Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Rabies vaccinations revisited
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Thank you. I kind of figured this to be the case, but the way the news
report was worded made it sound as if ferrets only needed vacs every 3
years as well. I hope they clarify their report so others don't get
the same impression I did.
Are there any studies, etc re this for ferrets?
Ella
[Rabies challenge studies take very specialized
labs. I have not heard of any work since the
original work was done in the late 1980s. If
memory serves it was 1990 when IMRAB 3
was judged as meeting the requirements for
being effective.
You can find at least some by looking in
Pubmed. For example just a few:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7740856
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2537273
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2347753
but there are more so just search there.
