Subject: [ferrethealth] Update on seizure Sid
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Because we had been watching him like a hawk, we noticed some things.
His head & muzzle were still puffy. He was pretty sensitive about having it touched.
He would sniff the medicine dropper and actually - lick - the medicines off.
Even the lasix!
After his initial bout of seizures on Friday, May 5th, the others that he's had, have been after food.

His head xrays showed a bad tooth. We think that when he ate the kibble,
that exasperated the abscessed tooth situation.
There after, when he ate, the tooth caused pain
and the pain caused seizures.

Turns out, he didn't have a bad tooth(it did had a big chunk of tartar on it). He had a gum tumor.
The tumor was removed and the teeth cleaned on Friday, May15th.
His lungs were clear and his white blood count went from 11.1
down to 6.5. He's still a little anemic. I assume that's due to
all the blood drawn for tests.

Since then, he's been fine. He's returned to eating kibble and
is drinking and pottying, just fine. We really don't know what
caused his seizures or the fluids in the lungs.

He doesn't seem to have any side affects from the seizures,
other than just a general weakness. Sees fine, hears fine,
has motor control, seems to have problem solving skills, too.
He trotted around the toys to get some tone this morning.

We hope that with time, more of his old personality will return.
If not, well then, we have a new ferret to get to know.

Thank you for the well wishes that were sent. We appreciated them.
Ruth
