AHA! You were absolutely correct Sukie! It is the middle man that is raking in the cost of the Tennessee Adrenal Panel. I contacted the University of Tennesee lab myself and was assured that their charge is $65.00 even for international customers and it takes them 10 business days for the results to come in.
I spoke with the person at my vet clinic and was told that they were quoted $338.00 plus taxes by Vita-Tech (middle man) for the test and that it would take 3 weeks for the results. When I told him that the lab only charged $65.00 and claimed a 10 day turnaround, he is now looking into shipping costs, etc. if they deal directly with the lab themselves.
Will keep you posted on what I find out.
I would suggest other Canadians ask their vet clinics to do the same especially those out west who have been quoted the really high prices.
