I just got off the phone with my vet, and our middle man, Itechs, are where the excessive charge comes in as well.
Unfortunately, without the middle man, they've(clinic) had blood/other tissues not be allowed through customs. The vet said the only way they could be certain of it reaching it's destination, a "middleman" has to be used.
