My two cents worth, it is not uncommon to mistake the belly button for what is really the penis, but Jennifer did refer to the ferret in question as a "she". However she also mentioned the swelling. With the loss of mobility in the rear legs, and the swelling, it does sound like adrenal gland problems. When I lost my little Thud last year, he was very active, and then one day I noticed a growth, (mast cell) on his chest, which I am told is pretty much benign and usually falls off on its own, which it did. But at the same time I noticed his tummy getting a bit distended, and then came the nite when I let him and his cage mate out for romp time, and he couldnt get his back legs beneath him. I took him to the vet and he was indeed adrenal, but the swelling was due to two possibly three tumors on his liver, spleen and pancreas. I lost him two days later. He was just two months shy of his fifth year. So definately get your baby to the vet at the soonest opportunity. I ha
d no warning of his condition other than the mast cell thing, but again was told that it was no real cause for concern. Everything else happened in a space of five days.
