And in ferrets, hormonal issues stem from adrenal disease.
The majority of my ferrets have had "rat tail" at some point in their lives. All that have were eventually diagnosed adrenal. I'd thought it was just coincidence. Considering what I'm seeing so far with those being treated with lupron prophylactically, I'm not so sure of that anymore.

This is very interesting. Not something I'd heard of before. I've had 3 blind ferrets (one with cataracts, two without) to date and have another now that's also loosing her vision (to cataracts), all have also had adrenal disease. I wonder if there might be a connection?
