Subject: [ferrethealth] Need help with Rambo!!!!!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Rambo is pushing 8 years old. Yesterday he started staggering around, seems like he just doesn't have energy in his back legs anymore. Also this nasty greenish yellow gook comes out of his hiney. Kind of like diarreha. He just seems today to want to lay here next to me on the couch and not do anything. Just lays here and shakes :( I really fear he is going :( Then he just went to get up to go down to potty and peed all over himself and looked at me with this "I'm sorry Mom, I didn't mean it" look. I just picked him up and held him and cleaned him up and told him it was okay and that I love him. I can't call/take him to a vet until tomorrow. What should I do??? Should I separate him from Patrick and Zoe and put him in his own little cage with no levels? He hasn't even left the bottom of their 4 level cage :( He just keeps messing and I keep cleaning it. It smells horribly. Please if anyone has any suggestions. I love him with all my heart he's my baby boy...I fear he is dying
and I want to make him comfortable as possible...please any suggestions....
Tracy
[MODERATOR'S NOTE:
2 of the possibilities include:
A. infection (ECE, or coccidia -- and see
past posts on that because too many vets and labs do
NOT check for all three genera of coccidia that ferrets
get and totally miss the small ones, and also do not tend
to check enough specimens over the space of a week
during diarrhea, or it certainly could be something else)

B. insulinoma and in that case you NEED to read this
now:
http://www.miamiferret.org/insulinoma.htm
but there are certainly other possibilities beyond those 2.]
