Subject: [ferrethealth] new to group-need help!!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
i have a sable male about 1 year old and in really good health. he has either an abcess or ganglion cyst between the 3rd and 4th toes on his left foot. i was poking a hole in it for draining. went to the vet who said to keep doing it and put him on penicillan just in case it was an infection. following that was another vet who actually likes ferrets. she took some fluid and it came back clean-no infections or cancers or anything. she lanced it which made the skin harder to get thru and now i can't drain whatever it is. both vets talked about amputation or opening up his foot to see what the cause is and if it can be fixed. i have put 160 into this little foot already and don't want to do anything that could really hurt him. if his foot isn't causing problems, should i just keep an eye on it or find a bank who gives loans on small animals to fix the foot?
