After trying to fix this problem for several months by dietery means,
and having to have her glands expressed every 6 weeks or so Suki
finally had her anal glands removed today. She is at home resting
and seems fine. This was a difficult decision as I was reluctant to
remove part of her ferret personality but it wasn't going to fix
itself.
For anyone interested in vet cost comparisons This op on a mature ferret cost inc taxes meds etc was 140(UK pounds) = 230(US)

Tony
