Fortunately, I have no experience with ferrets and spinal injuries, but for the scalding, you could use diaper cream. They don't like the taste of it, and won't lick at it(it's non-toxic anyway), and it will protect the area from the uric acids, until he can heal.
If you use it, don't wash it off when he soils himself, just barely wipe the surface, and apply more if needed.
