Both replies are actually right.

The ferret needs to be evaluated by a vet who
knows ferrets.

What matters is the amount of enlargement,
whether the margins are smooth, and some
other factors.

Many older ferrets have large spleens that are
not at a point where anything needs to be done
while others can be helped by antibiotics, and
still others really need their spleens removed.
