Cost, treatment and outcome all depend on the cause. Causes vary from infection to cancer, and in many cases no cause can be found. Treatments range from monitoring to antibiotics to steroids and/or chemo to surgical removal. Some ferrets do well with only monitoring, others require meds, others require surgery. It all depends on the cause.

For example, in one of mine the spleen enlarged post op (following adrenal surgery), my vet opted to leave it and monitor and it never gave him any trouble (4+ years, he passed at age 8 of liver cancer). Another just recently, however, needed the spleen removed because it did cause problems (the spleen became so enlarged it made up for half the ferrets body weight, causing discomfort and lethargy) and he's doing quite well now without it. No cause was determined in either but both did well regardless. I've also seen it in others with lymphoma (for which there is no cure), and for those meds were helpful for some time.

You need to consult with a vet to determine what would be best for your ferret and what the cost would be.

Good luck!
