Pretty well correct except that my vet attended a recent conference and it=

**This is controversial, and has been recommended due to the fact that
there were reports that in the majority of ferrets, the second gland would=

become diseased if left in the animal. In my experience, and in the experi=

of a number of my colleagues, that is not true, and was not true even befor=
e
the advent of the possibility of preventing adrenal disease via Lupron (or=

deslorelin for those lucky countries that have it!). I do not recommend or=

practice removing both glands unless both are diseased at the time of
surgery. My preference is to remove the diseased gland and treat with Lupr=
on to
hopefully prevent disease, while avoiding the necessity to treat for Addiso=
n's
disease.**
