I've never had any health problems with un-neutered hobs, that's in about 30 of them over the years. I prefer hobs to jills for handing to the public at county shows because they are more mellow than jills and ignore little kids mauling them about. In the UK most hobs are left whole anyway but it does mean they have to be kept apart to stop them fighting over jills in the summer. There is little point in neutering after they reach around 10.
