Subject: [ferrethealth] sick ferret kidney disease maybe
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

I wrote last week about my ferret who almost died. He had sore gums, dehydration, enlarged lymph glands, and his temp was down to 97.0. The vet kept him on a heating pad of some sort, gave him fluids, and antiobiotics. Sent me home with clavimox for him. On the way home he passed a large furball with bloody mucous around it. I thought that might have been some of the trouble. Took him back up today for a re-check. Vet said again lymphosarcoma or kidney disease. One kidney is enlarged and the other is lumpy. The vet told me to keep him on the clavamox another week. I need to know what is going to happen. Will I lose him right away, he is only 3 1/2. The vet really didn't have any suggestions. I have a limited range to drive and even to see him is an hour away. He is the best available but will be the first to say he doesn't treat a lot of ferrets. Any ideas?
