Okay, I got both the serial numbers and batch numbers for both Rory and Felix's rabies vax...here they are in case anyone needs to compare:

Felix: vaccine given 2/16/09
Serial: 12360/Batch 18088B

Rory: vaccine given 6/5/09
Serial: 12360/Batch 18093A

So, because they are from two different batches I am thinking I was just unlucky? The serial #s are the same but the batches aren't. Is this still worth reporting? And do I just call Merial?

Since I'll be seeing my vet in a few weeks anyway I can ask him about whether he reported the reactions then.

Amy, Dave, Sarah & Paul (and their gaggle of giggling ferrets)

[Your vet is the one who should report any reactions.

The reason there was a need to share publicly was
because someone first got a discussion of reactions
going on the FML (not here but many members are
on both) without data and that discussion continued
with no data. I think you are the only one to mention
here recently about having a problem and maybe 4
people did there as of yesterday's FML with some people
then wondering if vaccines should be skipped and it got
people concerned so just checking to make sure there
is not likely to be an actual problem with a given batch.

The first reporting person said her vet had encountered
it with one batch and threw the batch but did no details
so the batch could have been mishandled by a distributor
or transporter since so few people are reporting problems
and yours did not use only one batch.

Millions of ferrets get vaccinated each year.
