Subject: [ferrethealth] Update on Patrick....Insulinomia
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

It has been a rough few days. Since Patrick has been diagnosed with insulinomia, I had to take him to the vet every day for a steroid shot. It was the dexamethasone shot and an antibiotic shot. Wednesday we went for his shot and the vet put him on .5ml of liquid prednisone 2x a day. I have been feeding him with a dropper/syringe and give him water that way as well. He goes back to the vet again Wednesday for checkup. I have been feeding him beechnut chicken baby food mixed with water, I heat it up in the microwave. He hasn't pooped though since yesterday morning. Since he hasn't been able to walk, I normally wake up in the morning and get him out of the cage and clean him up because he pooed on himself :( I have had him since yesterday sleeping in a kitty bed next to me at all times. He also holds my hand with his little paws :( I feel so bad, he is like a little vegetable...am I doing the right thing or am I doing something wrong? He just seems so ill and I feel like he is s
uffering. The vet said it is hard to say if he will ever walk again....what should I do? Any suggestions? He seems to have gained a little weight only in his belly though. Zoe and my one cat Paynther sleep next to or with him in the kitty bed. He hardly moves :( I feel so bad for him.

Tracy
