The owners don't think the cadmium is relevant as they do not weld near the ferrets. Also they do not live near an industrial site or smelter.

Unfortunately they do not have the space inside the house to move all the ferrets inside. They do not use anything galvanised for the feeding or watering the ferrets.

Also no outsiders are able to access the cages at all so no poisons can be placed in or near the cages. If there were poisons in the yard that the ferrets could pick up the dogs would have got to them first.

The vets now seem to have ruled out the toxin side of it due to the fact that the symptoms have been delayed for such a long period of time now.

Nevertheless, I will still follow up the possibility of toxins, but our RSPCA dosn't have a poison hot line like your ASPCA.

We can't give up on that - ferrets just don't keel over and die for no reason.

Regards,
Christina
