Subject: [ferrethealth] wildfire and a poop problem
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi everyone, I was asked if i would take in a baby ferret a few weeks back because the dad said his son of 17 snuck in a ferret and felt it wasn't properly being taken care of and he himself didn't know how to take care of a ferret and he works alot. so i said yes and he brought the ferret to me that night.

they didn't know if the ferret was a male or female either. Turns out the ferret is a marshals and female.

She was housed in a "my first ferret cage", no levels, no hammies and no toys and the bottom was full of cedar chips and very wet, they had a food and water bowl in the cage.

she is about 11 weeks now, was 9 weeks when i took her in. her overal appearence , eyes ears, fur was good, nails to long, as i was examining her the first things i noticed was she still had fur growing in where her inssision for her spay was done and her poor hiney was all broken out from a bad rash and bright red, she at the time had no fur there it was still growing in. I started putting antibotic creme on her rash and it went away fast,

her cage and cedar chips got thrown away, cage had alittle rust on it and the bottom was cracking.

ok about her problem, wildfire doesn't know when she has to pee or poop, she poops in her sleep and doesn't wake up or move and will let go right where she sleeps, she lets go sometimes when she is picked up, poops playing[doesn't even know she's going] she even poops in my bed on the floors in the hammies etc.

she will be seeing a vet asap,

she is active and eats and drinks great , gets along with everyone , gives kisses.

what could be possibly causeing her poop problem, need ideas please or if anyone else has ever had a baby ferret with this kind of problem, would love to here from you.
