Suddenly taking her off her old food would certainly cause diarreah. Ferrets need to be weaned off old food gradually.

The redness in her bottom area would likely be scalding from her incontinence. It does sound as though she has little, if any control, which would suggest spinal/nerve/brain injury from the entrapment episode. If she was 'stuck' she could have injured her spine struggling to get out. If she was suffocating her brain may have been deprived of oxygen.

These are all potentially serious consequences that need to be evaluated and treated by a ferret knowledgeable veterinarian.

As the Moderator has emphasized - time is of the essence.
