Subject: [ferrethealth] Female ferret dribbling urine
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a 6 year old girl, insulinomic. She's on 1.1 ml. prednisolone every 12 hrs. to control the insulinoma. Not adrenal (up to this point). She did receive a Lupron shot around February as a preventive measure against adrenal disease. She also has a melatonin implant every 4 months for the same reason.
Lately I noticed that she licks her lower belly a lot and that when she pees, she wets all her lower belly (then she tries to clean herself up and that's what causes all the licking). I have been watching her and it seems to me that she has lost her urine flow strength, seems that instead of coming all out it sort of trickles, at least at the end. She also seems to have less strength in her back legs to support herself while going.
I am making an appointment for her at our vet's right away but wanted to ask if anyone has had a similar experience with a female ferret. I know males can get prostate trouble, but have not heard of similar issues with females.
Her vulva is not swollen at all. I have not noticed any hair loss so far.

Thank you in advance,
