Subject: [ferrethealth] Abscessed tooth
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for treating April's abscessed tooth. This poor girl has very bad teeth. She joined our family last year as a stray. We took care of her adrenal disease and insulinoma and dental was to be next on the list. As it turned out, we learned of her complete AV block before any dental was done. She is stable related to her cardiac and other issues, however developed an abscessed tooth recently. We have treated her with Amoxicillin followed by Clavamox with limited success. There was pus that came out in her mouth as well as swelling in the side of her face. The pus and odor are no longer present, however the swelling is not resolving. Because of her heart condition and insulinoma, I do not want to put her under anesthesia to have the tooth removed which would obviously be the ideal treatment. Does anyone have any other suggestions that we could try? Many thanks... Lucie
