Subject: [ferrethealth] Re:Treatment for adrenal ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My Asia had a left adrenal carcinoma removed at 10 months of age, my vet didnt know about lupron treatment and so she didnt get it and her symptoms reappeared within 3 months, we didnt take her to surgery for the right and put her on lupron and recently added melatonin implants to her treatment. One year later and she is still doing very well, so in my limited experience I would say that yes, they do tend to reoccur after having one removed.

[Moderator's Note:
experiences on the RATES of second adrenals also
becoming diseased VARIES AMONG HOUSEHOLDS
AND MAYBE AMONG LOCATIONS.

Perhaps it also varies with the different types of
adrenal tumors.

Yes, having both glands involved certainly can occur.
How often it occurs varies. An actual study with
rate numbers looked at in relation to different
locations, home husbandry info (especially
how much darkness is available since there are
excellent reasons to expect that to be beneficial),
and other factors would be useful if enough people
fund one by a vet student or a vet at some time.]
