I'm also in New Jersey. In my experience, adrenal disease always recurs. I've had only one go more then 1-2 years following surgery without showing obvious symptoms of recurrence (with most never really showing much improvement at all, and some actually worsening). That one lasted 4 years before symptoms showed again. I've also heard from many others over the past 8 years who've had the same experience. Personally, I'm not so sure "recurrence" is the correct word to use, as I'm very doubtful the disease is ever really treated successfully with surgery. We must keep in mind that adrenal disease can be present without showing any symptoms. So, even if/when the disease appears to be under control it may not be.

[Remember that in Sukie's case their ferrets for a very
extended period were almost invariably used by ferret
vets to teach other vets and vet techs so they had full
necropsies and pathology work. Any asymptomatic
adrenal disease would have been found. Over the years
only one had that when the post work was done.
So, these were NOT missed cases. -- Moderator]
