**This is an interesting point. I rarely see a second gland become
hyperplastic or neoplastic after removal of one affected gland, and I am in the
Northeast. Not saying I don't see it, I certainly do, but I would estimate it
to be less than 30 percent recurrence, even in those ferrets not given any
medical treatment (Lupron, melatonin) after the first gland is removed.**
