Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Can you give Pepto and Pepcid at the same time-concurrently?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Can you ask your vet to call in a human prescription for Carafate at the pharmacy? We have a huge bottle of Carafate that we use for ferrets. IMO it's much better than Pepcid or anything else.
Like Tressie said give it before feedings, not at the same time. Also, what is your ferret on? Can the vet give you antibiotics at all, amoxi and baytril or amoxi and metronidazole?
The treatment for the ferret should come to $120 if that...please consider scraping up the money from somewhere. Ferrets with ulcers don't live very long and if they manage to make it a while, they are in a lot of pain. Where are you located (in general)...maybe I can help you find a vet near you who takes Carecredit and you can apply for a card, or find an affordable vet who may let you pay in installments...

Do we know that this ferret has ulcers?
The ferret had nausea symptoms but
other details were missing to help to
pinpoint the cause. For example,
what color are the ferret's stools?]
