Yes, the subsalicylate is related to aspirin, but I don't know that it is n=
ot safe, just use at vet's discetion and dosing.
In children, we worry about aspirin being given when they are with fever, a=
s some viral illness and intake of aspirin have been linked to Reye's. But =
as far as I know, animals don't get that.
So, other problems with aspirin?=A0 In larger doses or chronic use can have=
concerns of stomach ulcers/bleeding.
A while back I tried to find out how much we were even talking about that p=
epto had in it, and I really couldn't find any studies showing a link betwe=
en the bismuth salt/subsalicylate causing issues, but it is still safe to a=
void in cases of aspirin sensitivity, and to be careful in dosing, etc.
The vets on the list can correct me if I am wrong.

Maybe someone already replied to this, but ferrets can't have Pepto. Kao Pe=
ctate used to be ok, but now they changed their ingredients and now neither=
are safe. I believe the ingredient is the Bismuth subsalicylate
