Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: adrenalectomy complication

Sorry to hear about Izzy's adrenal surgery. The furkids and I will be thinking of her. Hopefully she'll pull through.
Caity is right, hormone replacement will be really important for Izzy's survival. The drug our vet had used on our bilateral adrenalectomy ferret was Percorten. It is an injectable depot that your vet gives every 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately our little girl passed away soon after from aggressive lymphoma so I can't tell you how well it works. But it's another treatment that you can research on and discuss with your vet.
Good luck!
[Moderator:
When we had one on Percorten the effect only worked about 3 weeks
for him so know that it can vary. He had IBD so Fludrocort would
go through him too fast to be utilized.]
