Subject: [ferrethealth] Question about ferrets and maggots
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

A ferret I took in had maggots removed from him - I wonder if they got them all...I look at his abdoment and I can see movement, but I wonder if it is just his intestines. He has wet dermatitis so he is bald there, and pretty thin. I feel "popping" so I suppose it's his intestines doing the "moving".

I think if there were maggots he would not survive with that amount of movement - or even if there is movement that is slow and undulating in cases of internal maggots.

I know this is a weird one - I just have never noticed this type of rippling or undulation in a ferret before, but then again the only other starved ferrets I have had in had all their hair and so I would likely not have noticed any movement.
