Hi,

So sorry to hear Gordo is unwell. His symptoms sound an awful lot like
two of my ferrets I lost recently to lymphosarcoma. The megastomache
occured in both their cases with contents barely trickling out. On
necropsy both had food packed in their stomach and along the entire
length of the intestinal tract hours after having eaten.

Part of the palliative supportive care they received was Reglan
(metoclorpramide) which helped with motility (i.e., moving things
along). The pyoric area was also restricted in both cases.

The eyes may be an infection from his poor overall condition.

I lost another ferret 2 weeks ago whose health had been deteriorating
for months - he also gained a lot of weight. I posted about him and
posted pics. He weighed 5 1/2 lbs when he died. Preliminary necropsy
results showed andrenocortical carcinoma and damaged kidney - complete
results are expected in another 2 weeks.

I am afraid it does sound like lymphoma especially given the swollen
lymph nodes and his cluster of symptoms. Perhaps your vet can post his
x-rays onto VIN to get some professional feedback? Or consult with a
ferret expert veterinarian?

Its something my vet does regularly and he is an exotics and ferret
expert! There are always more knowledgeable and experienced
veterinarians out there and most are happy to offer a consultation.

Good luck!

Tressie
