Ferret Health List (FHL)I had a similar situation with my ferret Fritz a few years ago...in fact, you can search the FHL archives about it. He gained a ton of weight, became lethargic. We did test after test after test (biopsies, Xrays, bloodwork, you name it) and it ended up he had liver cancer. I remember being shocked at the necropsy because we had biopsied lots of stuff and it all came back as fat. Eventually he became diabetic and within a week was gone. Hopefully Gordo's problem is not the same, but if you want some information on overweight ferrets there is quite a bit of info in the archives. There have certainly been other instances of obese ferrets so a search would probably be a good idea.
Having said that, nothing replaces good veterinary care.
