Hi,

I think a biopsy of a lymph node (not removing a node) is the right
next step for Tavathian. That will either rule out or diagnose
lymphoma/lymphosarcoma. Yes, that would be a horrible diagnosis but
at least you could start treating Tavathian accordingly and make her
more comfortable. My ferret Nyssa was diagnosed with lymphoma at age
six and a half. She fought it for 19 months and we were able to
maintain a decent quality of life for her most of the way through.
Other ferrets I've had with lymphoma haven't lasted nearly as long
but, again, we were able to maintain quality of life to almost the
end.

Of course it could be something else but reading what you wrote that
was the first thing that came to mind from the symptoms.

Oh, and six *IS* young for some ferrets, old for others. I have three
over six years old now and all think they're still young :) I've had
others who never saw six :(

The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet, just a moderately
experienced ferret owner.

Wishing you and Tavathian all the best...
Caity and the terrific trio
(Ella, Zephyr, and Chin Soon)
