Thanks for that, Sukie, very interesting. I didn't know that killed virus vaccine (distemper) is effective in ferrets. Common knowledge is, or was, that ferrets need to be vaccinated with live attenuated virus vaccine for reliable protection (of course not grown in ferret tissue).
Another issue - where I live (Tasmania - Australia) there hasn't been a case of distemper for many years amongst canines. Younger vets have never come across a case of the disease. But that doesn't mean we are safe, the situation could change any time. However, if there is no distemper in the region we would never know if a vaccine is effective or not, as vaccinated animals never come in contact with the virus.
Does it make sense?
I'm still pondering the 30 mg versus 30 mcg dose of vitamin A for ferrets. Have you used for your ferrets the 30 mg dose?
