That's something I would never have thought of since I've never seen a *big* mast cell tumor. This thing looked like a giant mosquito bite or small bee sting. I just did some reading, and apparently mast cell tumors can be much larger than I've seen in the past. Today, all that's left of the spot is a tiny red scab, and my vet appt. is next week. (Nothing left for the vet to see!!!)

Again, many thanks for your feedback. I feel a sense of relief that perhaps all is not completely hopeless - yet!

[Moderator's Note: If it reappears in the same spot then
a mast cell tumor is more likely and it was just missed earlier
since they last longer than a day. If it really was just a day
then think about things like mosquito bites and remember to
treat to prevent heart worms. The more serious things
asked about in the original post don't disappear. Mast cell
