I totally disagree hear, regarding probiotics!! Unfortunately there is
little research on this, regarding ferrets, and should,in my opinion be
more studyied, before its brushed off and rendered useless. Ferrets have
the closest digestion to humans, from what I understand, and thus the
reason that ferrets unfortunately r used in ciggarette studys, and what
about the antacid studies? The immune system,is in the gut,80 percent of
our immune system is in our gut.,so how on earth could probiotics,be
rendered useless? In my opinion, they r of the utmost importance, and
shouldn't be brushed off! Look at all the health issues ferrets
have.,then look at how often antibiotics, which wipe out all bacteria r
used in ferrets.,this in my opinion, sets the poor little guys up for
never ending health issues. Maybe we should use these less?? And
probiotics more?? This hits a sore spot with me,big time, because I study
alternative medicine, and have my degree in c.h.f.s.,and think with
humans as well, the same holds true here.. In my 18 plus yrs of being a
ferret mom,I've seen antibiotics wanting to be used,in every single
issue,I have ever brought my ferret to the vets for.,all vets, and I've
seen plenty! Is this really the answer to everything wrong in our
ferrets? Just take this antibiotic, then when that doesn't work, here's
another? Deb

[Probiotics are bacterial species found to be
useful in species that have been studied in
this regard, such as humans. They are not
an immune system treatment.

CHFS? What is that and what type of degree,
plus what institutions award them? I know
that there are Pharmacognosy degrees from
some of the medical schools (universities)
through pharmacology departments but those
are graduate degrees in how herbal compounds
work (or don't work), side effects, etc. Never
having run into that abbreviation that I recall
I am now curious.
