Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Fia: Interestingly, not lymphoma
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I had the same thing happen to me over a year ago. Greyford was said to have a few days left. Typical of a lymphoma, he had very enlarged nodes. We were going to put him to sleep, but he seemed to still have the will to live. So we waited, gave him pred...and after a week, he started gaining weight, though he still had two very large nodes....

They remained very large until a few months ago, and they are totally gone now (unfeelable). Now, lymphoma without chemo just doesn't "go away"...so I am thinking he never had lymphoma to begin with. Your post is very interesting!!!

We did not have any pathology done since we assumed he was not going to make it, and we took him home to pass away.

I am posting because when I did research, I could never find any cases where the single enlarged under-arm lymph node in a very young ferret was anything other than lymphoma, and thought it might be useful for others to know that there are other possibilities.
