How much turmeric did you give? You'll notice my
interest in past posts in the FHL and FML on the
possible use of turmeric because of the curcumin
in it for ferrets with heart disease or even possibly
some other things that cause blood clots to form
because it is a strong anti-inflammatory.

One side effect of curcumin is that brings down
blood glucose so it needs to be avoided if a ferret
may have insulinoma. Hey, everything has side effects
which is why when I use herbals I look them up just
as I do with standard meds. In fact, I should check
to see what exists in the way of new veterinary herbal
texts because I am still mostly using PDRs, some
Varro Tyler texts (since he is a pharmacogocist
as well as a pharmacologist), the _Herb-Drug Interaction..._
and _Herb-Food Interaction..._ Handbooks which
were composed by a Registered Dietician, and some
links in the FHL links section to look such things up.

Anyway, how much did you give?

Curcumin also appears to reduce intestinal inflammation
and is thought to play a part in some epidemiological
studies that indicate lower levels of intestinal malignancies
in those who have it often in their diets.

Speaking of natural, a new study in Nature was released, BTW:
http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nature08268.html
and was discussed in the current Nature podcast.
I have NOT had time to listen to it but from someone
else who has it seems that (like multiple vitamins already
studied) antioxidants can benefit existing malignancy
colonies though (also like some vitamins and precursors
like betacarotene) they can help fight the beginnings
of malignancies. Since malignancies (cancer) are the
body's own cells gone wrong this makes sense, I guess.
