-my vet has also told me that ferrets spleen changes sizes from time to time and many swollen spleens had been removed to find that there was nothing wrong with them.. and that swelling on and off of spleens are normal.

[Moderator: Fortunately, the original poster who asked
is ferret knowledgeable with excellent vets so whether
to remove a spleen or not will depend on
multiple factors. When a spleen is at risk of
rupture, has uneven margins, is so large that
it interferes with other organs, or when some
other factors exist then removal is simply
logical and usually a splenic removal works
very well for a ferret. We had one die 5 and a
half years after removal at a ripe old age,
