I use Revolution for cats for my ferrets and we don't have any flea issues
at all, even though a couple of our neighbors had flea problems due to their
dog and cats only being treated with sprays (which shouldn't be used on
ferrets!). I have a dog as well, and she is treated with a monthly
medication from our vet as well. Personally, I don't trust OTC flea meds at
all, not even for my dog (much less a sensitive animal like a ferret).
