Detecting ascites:
Usually a vet has to say, but sometimes the belly acts like
a water balloon if the ferret is placed on his back and the
sides of the belly are gently patted if there is not a huge
amount of fluid.
Causes can vary. Heart diseases are the most common,
but lymphoma can do it rarely if I recall right, and if
memory serves liver illness and kidney illness sometimes
can though you will need to check me on those last ones
since I lack the time to check myself right now.
