Another thing that might help for diagnosis would be an ultrasound, to see if the intestinal walls are thickened or swollen. That could indicate that you are most likely dealing with IBD, and then you'd know prednisone would be a good next step to reduce intestinal inflammation.
You could also look into diet and try a gradual switch to a non-chicken based food. I've had very good results controlling my ferret's IBD with a combination of prednisone and feeding her Totally Ferret's Turkey Venison Lamb kibble. (She also gets a daily snack of Carnivore Care, which does contain chicken but doesn't seem to irritate her digestive system)
