Subject: [ferrethealth] My ferret has Inflammatory Bowel Disease

My 1.2y/o ferret, Jago has IBD. About 6 months ago I treated him with pred & flagyl in addition to yogurt (to help the medicine go down) & canned pumpkin. He returned to his happy playful self and was weaned off the pred. This is 2nd episode and as soon as I noticed he was feeling ill I got him back on pred. & flagyl (yogurt) and he regularly eats and loves his libbys pumpkin.
What can I do differently to keep him healthy? Other Rx drugs? Any advise will be appreciated.
I am feeding him Drs Foster & Smith Original ferret food mixed with marshall farms.
Would mixing in feline Hills Rx Z/D help him?
I think his IBD was from carb. overload I stupidly fed him rabbit/pea Rx D/D.
