I have been following Tocho's=A0condition from the beginning because I am e=
xperiencing the same thing with my 4yo male ferret Peppie.=A0 He has had tu=
mmy troubles in the past that have been easily cleared up with a round of M=
etronidazole.=A0 He hates it but tolerates being medicated well enough.=A0=
=A0
I took him to the vet for an annual check-up on 9/11.=A0 For several days p=
rior to the visit he had diarrhea and gone off his food.=A0 He was alert bu=
t not playful and had lost a little bit of weight which I attributed to the=
season.=A0 I blamed my recent move into a new apartment and a road trip ho=
me (2 hours away)=A0for his condition but he did not improve.=A0 The vet ga=
ve me a two week supply of the Metro and a tube of Bene-Bac.=A0=A0He gets .=
2ml of the Metro=A0twice a day and a "pea-sized amount" of the Bene-Bac onc=
e a day.
=A0
His diarrhea cleared up almost instantly after the first day of antibiotics=
but then=A0came back.=A0 It has come and=A0gone with no rhyme or reason fo=
r the past week and a half.=A0 It does not seem to be a daily thing but=A0d=
iffers with each bowel movement.=A0 He is definately more playful now than =
he was before the vet visit and he drinks/eats like a piggy.=A0 His weight =
is good although he's lost just a bit due to the time of year.=A0 He has pl=
umped back up=A0since the introduction of the antibiotic.=A0 He does not se=
em to be in any pain.=A0
=A0
I did take a stool sample with me to the vet and=A0since I have 5 ferrets I=
made sure to=A0mix it and included a=A0recent diarrhea which I=A0saw Peppi=
e do right before leaving for the appointment.=A0=A0The stool sample was ne=
gative although I don't know=A0exactly what my vet tests for in a=A0routine=
exam.=A0 I intend to finish the antibiotic and see what happens.
=A0
I find it interesting that Tocho seems to be having the same troubles as Pe=
ppie.=A0 Please let me know what information your vet can provide!=A0 Thank=
you.
