Subject: [ferrethealth] Question for those with Deslorelin Experience

Has anyone had a ferret respond to the implant initially but then suddenly stopped? We had one put in my boy (I believe it was mid to late May) and at first I couldn't believe how quickly he responded. About a month ago, I noticed his coat starting to thin, but attributed it to the seasonal change. Problem is, there's no re-growth so it's not a matter of him blowing his coat. Apparently this implant's shelf life expired in August sometime, but my vet was told it would not have an impact on the effectiveness of the med as long as it was implanted prior to expiry. I find it extremely odd that not long after the expiry date was reached, he started losing fur again.
Thoughts???
