Hi Stephanie,=A0 I don't know what could be causing this, but I am wonderin=
g that if it is some type of allergy like you are thinking, I wonder if jus=
t regular Benedryl would help rather than having to use the pred?=A0

My only other thought is if it is an allergy of some sort, is there anythin=
g new you have recently been using?=A0 Like any new laundry detergent on hi=
s bedding?=A0 I hope you find the cause.

[Allergic reactions tend to usually happen to things
for which there are previous exposures and often
many previous exposures. Exceptions can happen
but they are exceptions.

Allergic reactions usually tend to be systemic,
though, so having which foot is swollen changing
and just one foot at a time swollen does not
sound like an allergic reaction unless there may
be an intermittent exposure that does not involve
more than one foot, in which case an irritant with
that kind of exposure may also be possible -- a
contact dermatitis sort of situation.=20

Are there things that might be acidic or alkaline (even
some plant products and plants), or have adhesives
(like those sticky insect traps) that the ferret might
periodically investigate with a paw or accidently
step on?

Try going to
http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/plants/
and put
dermititis
into the search box then go through the various
pages to see if you have those plants and if the
ferret has been exposed.]
