Cataracts in ferrets are fairly common, as is retinal atrophy. I've had a number of blind ferrets myself, some with cataracts some with retinal atrophy, and have two currently (both with retinal atrophy).
Ferrets handle blindness fairly well, in some you wouldn't even know they were blind if you weren't paying close attention.
