Subject: [ferrethealth] Screaming sneezes
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Has anyone ever experienced screaming sneezes in their ferret? I have a 2.5 yo jill that is currently suffering from these violent screaming sneezing fits. At first it seemed to be allergy related and I was letting her go a few days to see if they would get better on their own. However that has not been the case and they have become so violent that its causing her mouth to bleed. I'm not actually sure if she's bitting her tongue or smacking her head that is causing the blood on her low jaw between her canines. The fits are not continuous, but 3-6 fits over the course of a 24 hour period. The soonest I can get her into the vet is on Thursday, so I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what could be causing this or anyway I can make her more comfortable until Thursday. Her nose is congested and I've been trying to keep it clean so she can breathe better.

Incidentally, her cage is well padded and her fits are usually when she's in her padded round bed.

Is this just a cold, or could it be something more?

Thanks in advance,
Kerry
