When both adrenal glands are completely removed fat tissue can respond by producing the same hormones that would be produced by the adrenal glands in response to stimulation from the pituitary. Perhaps technically this would not be considered adrenal disease but I don't know what it would be considered, as in effect the cause and result are both the same.

[The last I have read the types of hormones fat
tissue produces is more limited. Now, the body
can change at least some hormones into different
hormones when there is need.

Do you have any references showing that fat
actually produces a broad range of hormones
like the adrenals do? References?
