Subject: [ferrethealth] Baby Orajel
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I'd seen a post in the archives, but no response. Recently I was asked if =
Baby Orajel could be used on a ferret that was experiencing red swollen gum=
s and lack of appetite. Of course, it was on a Sunday afternoon when their=
clinic was not open. When in doubt, I say no. But, for future reference =
I'd like to know whether it's toxic or not, or if it exacerbates the proble=
m, or causes more pain than if left untreated, or quite possibly, could it =
bring relief?

What I found on Baby Orajel for ingredients:
Active ingredients=20
Microdent=AE (poloxamer 407 2%, simethicone 0.12%).

Inactive ingredients carboxymethylcellulose sodium, citric acid, flavor, gl=
ycerin, methylparaben, potassium sorbate, propylene glycol, propylparaben, =
purified water, sodium saccharin, sorbitol

My concern for anyone using it would be heightened if I saw any of the "cai=
ne" ingredients, but there are none listed. What say ye?

Thanks,
