Could be. He seems to have a lot going on besides insulinoma so it
could be something else as well or a combination of things. If it is
because of insulinoma the prednisone may help. Are you monitoring his
blood glucose at home?

Pred dosages are based on body weight and what the vet is treating
for. You didn't specify what kind of tumors you are dealing with or
what his diagnoses are at this point so I don't think any of us can
answer that. The dosage you listed translates to 2.0ml at the 1mg/ml
concentration that our vet generally uses so that is a rather high
dose.

If he's having diarrhea issues reducing the pred and adding DepoMedrol
may help. We did that with Nyssa for her lymphoma. Any dose greater
than 0.27ml (1mg/ml) which we gave twice a day caused her diarrhea.
That much or less did not. Adding DepoMedrol and reducing the
Pediapred helped get her more regular until the lymphoma progressed
farther.

Other than that I'll defer to those with more experience. The usual
disclaimer applies: I am not a vet, just a moderately experienced
ferret owner.

All the best,
Caity and the terrific trio
(Ella, Zephyr and Chin Soon)

[We find it best to use Prednisolone rather than
Prednisone, to split the dose into no fewer than
2 doses per day, and find that they usually
prefer that less concentrated versions. Many
stabilize with the med split over 2 doses per day,
but we have one who insists on having 2 to 4 huge
meals each day, and his levels swung as a result
of his personally preferred eating pattern. For him
three times a day and diazoxide also given provide
stability and control.
